Meet Vin Moray
Botanical Perfumer

For my 14th birthday, my dad took me to downtown Cleveland to an arcade built in 1890.
​
A modern marvel when it opened, the arcade spanned five floors of esplanades and four more of offices, all crowned by a glass dome and Art Nouveau curves.
​
The marble steps, worn into dips by millions of footsteps, creaked under us as we climbed to the third floor. There, one of the glass-fronted boutiques read "Olfactorium.
We squeezed through the bell door into the tiny shop, greeted by glass shelves lined with thousands of tiny bottles and apothecary jars.
​
The woman behind the counter led me to a dim, lush back room, where we discussed my needs, wishes, and preferences.
​
I wanted to feel beautiful and powerful.
​
After listening, she carefully blended a fragrance just for me—neroli and musk, if I remember correctly.
With a tiny funnel, she poured the perfume into a delicate glass bottle, and I named the blend, scrawling it on an elaborate sticker.
​
Having my own scent as a teenager grounded me in who I was during a turbulent time.
​
Since then, natural scents have been central to my magical and adornment practices.
​
Essential oils and incense are part of my daily life, offering inspiration, comfort, reminder, grounding, and spiritual hygiene.
​
I place scent on my body to connect with protection, pleasure, and embodiment.
​
Trained by master perfumer Justine Crane, I hold both basic and advanced certificates from the Natural Perfume Academy. I also study traditional copper distilling with master distiller Ash from Ritual Botanica. I am certified by the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in Grasse, France. I travel the world to find rare, unique materials for my work.

What started as a lifelong passion has transformed into a daily, traditional craft and spiritual practice.
